Physiotherapy Outpatients

• Individual Therapy provided for Musculoskeletal, Women's Health (inc. continence and peri-natal) and Paediatric patients
• Lung Function Testing inc. DVA assessments
• Referrals accepted from General Practitioners for patients residing in the Hospital's catchment, including compensable patients (TAC, WorkCover and DVA)
• Community Health fees apply (nominal charge)

Health Promotion Groups

•  Mums In Training antenatal exercise classes

To prepare pregnant women for labour, help them cope with the demands of the pregnancy and to maintain exercising during this special time. These 1 hour exercise classes include low impact aerobics, treadmill, weights, fitballs, exercise bikes to music as well as stretches & relaxation. All classes are run by physiotherapists specifically trained in women's health who can give these pregnant women advice on appropriate exercise

•  Mums & Babies program

To provide an opportunity for women to exercise, and to provide education on how to care for themselves and their babies. 1 ½ hr class for women who have had a baby (at least 6 weeks ago but no more than 12 months ago), that runs for 8 weeks. The class involves 2 components of 1 hour for exercise and 30 minutes for an educational talk.

•  Pram Pushers walking program

This program aims to increase new mum's participation in physical activity, improve new mother's social wellbeing, reduce social isolation and maintain a high level of confidence in their health in particular their cardiovascular fitness.

•  Kickstart program

This 10 week program is designed to achieve improved fitness, reduce excess weight and experience greater well being through regular exercise and good nutrition. All weeks (except 2) run for 2 hours. Well worth the time! A 1 hour exercise class is held each week (classes vary each week, with the aim that participants will find the type of exercise that they enjoy and that fits in with their lifestyle/time constraints). Each week (excepting 2) contains 1 hour of nutritional information that can be easily and realistically adapted to ones lifestyle. A timetable of classes and nutritional topics is given to participants on their first night of attendance.
