General Surgical Clinic
This clinic also reviews patients who wish to have obesity surgery. The obesity surgery clinic works in conjunction with a dietician.

Referrals for Obesity Surgery should meet the following criteria:

• Patient aged 65 years and under.
• BMI over 40.
• BMI over 35 but with cardiac problems, polycystic ovarian syndrome, diabetes, joint damage or other obesity related co-morbidity.

Patients who are accepted for Obesity Surgery will be requested to obtain an assessment by a Psychologist or Psychiatrist. The clinic does not provide this service.

Investigations to be sent with the referral

Relevant pathology and imaging reports. Referrals for patients for Obesity Surgery must have a BMI provided.

Inappropriate referrals
for this specialty

Paediatric referrals
Patients who do not meet the criteria for Obesity Surgery.
