Description |
Clinic for the assessment and management of skin problems. A minor procedures clinic also operates on alternate Wednesdays for patients referred from the Dermatology clinic. Referrals are triaged by the Dermatologist into 3 categories of urgency. Waiting times for non urgent patients is many months. Paediatric referrals accepted. |
Investigations to be sent with the referral |
To allow for triage the referral should have a comprehensive description of the skin problem or lesion and a provisional diagnosis. The results of any relevant investigations should be included. |
Inappropriate referrals | Melanomas and larger skin cancers that will require wide excision and grafting should be referred to the Plastic Surgery Clinic. Patients requesting cosmetic procedures. Links: Guidelines for Aesthetic Surgery on the Public Hospital Waiting List |
