Description

Assessment of adult cardiology problems. Organisation of the appropriate investigations and interventions required. Appointments are triaged by the Cardiology Department. Degree of urgency can be specified. Appropriate information explaining urgency appreciated.

Investigations to be sent with the referral

All relevant pathology and imaging tests performed. Copies of any ECGs performed.

Services provided include:
Echocardiogram (TTE), Stress Echo (Treadmill), Dobutamine Stress Echo, Tranoesophageal Echo (TOE), Ambulatory (Holter) Monitoring, Electrocardiograph (ECG) etc

Please note: No paediatric clinics are based at Box Hill Hospital however they can do paediatric transthoracic echocardiography.

1. Please fax referrals for this clinic or investigations to
9895 4834 in addition to sending a copy with the patient.
2. Cardiology endeavour to have all test reports to GPs on
the same day.
3. Currently no waiting times for Angiography or Angioplasties
4. There is a Cardiology Registrar available 24 hours, 7 days a week. GPs are welcome to ring the hospital on 03 9895 3333 and ask for the doctor on duty to be paged, if they have any questions. These questions may or may not be related to an inpatient.
5. GPs can organise a live tour of the Cath Lab and Echo Unit. Contact the Personal Assistant of Associate Professor Gishel New (Ms Lok-Eng Heng) to arrange a time.
