The
Box Hill Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery consists
of two specialist orthopaedic units, together utilising more
than 30 beds.
The
department deals with the surgical management of disease and
trauma to bones and joints. This encompasses such procedures
as joint replacement surgery,
arthroscopic surgery, and treatment of fractures.
In
addition to its team of highly skilled surgeons, the Department's specialised
ward on level 1 of the main Box Hill campus, also boasts an
energetic team of experienced orthopaedic nurses and dedicated
physiotherapists. Together with other allied health specialties, it is ensured
that patients are treated expediently and holistically.
The
unit is also intimately involved with the hospital's medical
units, especially the Acute Care of the Elderly unit.
In
addition to hospital inpatient management, the department
also runs two outpatient clinics
and three fracture
clinics each week, providing the
general public with a first class service.
