In the
event of pregnancy loss or the death of a infant, there can be unmet
expectations, feelings of depression, sadness, anger, guilt and anxiety
and difficulty returning to normal activities. The Psychology Department
can assist individuals and couples who are undergoing this experience.
Services
are based on individual needs. There are out-patient services to provide
support and counseling during pregnancy and in the post-natal period.
In-patient services are also available in the days surrounding delivery
for any concerns that may arise.
Rehabilitation
Services
In-patient
psychological services are provided to patients of the Angliss Rehabilitation
Centre (wards 1 West and 1 North).
The Rehabilitation
Centre caters for patients:
- recovering
from neurological and orthopaedic events
- of the
Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit
Patients
can experience difficulty adjusting to the physical and emotional changes
in their lifestyle that occur during rehabilitation and following discharge.
They may experience:
- grief
- depression
- anxiety
- altered
physical abilities
- changes
to their previous roles
The Psychology
Department works with a multi-disciplinary team to provide in-patient
services to assist and support the rehabilitation process.
Out-patient
follow-up may be provided based on individual assessed need (out-patient
fees apply).
Cost
of Out-Patient Services
The first
session is free.
The cost
of subsequent sessions ranges from $15.00 to $25.00 based on income.
