Physiotherapy Department

 
What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a clinical speciality that addresses problems with movement, dysfunction and pain. These can arise from musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory and chronic disability conditions.
Inpatient Physiotherapy Services

Physiotherapy is available on all wards, in Emergency Department and with 'Patient at Their Home Service', on referral from treating Medical or Nursing staff.

Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Services (as part of Outer East Rehab Service)
  • Inpatient Service - Neurological and orthopaedic
  • Hospital or community-based
  • Ambulatory / CRC ('Home for Rehab' Service)
  • Neurological, orthopaedic, cardio-pulmonary, amputee
  • Direct GP referral for patients residing in Outer East
  • Individual home-based rehab., or centre-based for groups e.g. Falls & Balance, Hydrotherapy, Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Outpatient Physiotherapy Services
  • Individual Therapy provided for Musculoskeletal, Women's Health (inc. continence and peri-natal) and Paediatric patients
  • Lung Function Testing inc. DVA assessments
  • Referrals accepted from General Practitioners for patients residing in the Hospital's catchment, including compensable patients (TAC, WorkCover and DVA)
  • Health Promotion Classes and Groups including 'Mums in Training' (Ante-natal Exercise), Back care / 'Fitball' and Healthy Living (for obesity, in conjunction with Nutrition Department) - please note that many classes are available outside of normal business hours
  • Community Health fees apply (nominal charge)

Monday to Friday - 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
