The department
experiences relatively less of the major access block of other metropolitan
departments, and has numerous efficient processes in place to keep
waiting times to a minimum.
The Department
has rated first in state benchmarked studies since 2001 for both patient
and staff satisfaction.
The
new Department, opening in December 2004, has 27 well-equipped cubicles
plus treatment areas. Co-located with the Department are an 8 bed
Short Stay Unit and an 8 bed Critical Care Unit.
