The Angliss Hospital is an acute public Hospital and a Member of Eastern Health. It is a community based hospital set at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, approximately 30kms from the CBD and within walking distance of a train station.
The hospital is committed to education and development of all staff.
Postgraduate courses are offered in Emergency, Midwifery, Operating Suite, High Dependency, Aged Care and Rehabilitation nursing.

Aims of the Program
The Graduate Nurse Program at The Angliss Hospital is aimed at enhancing the professional development of each graduate nurse by:
- Recognising and incorporating individual learning needs and personal attributes into a responsive supported education program
- Facilitating the transition from student to registered nurse in a supportive clinical environment, utilising clinical teachers, peer support and preceptorship
- Providing 3 Rotations
- Providing documented evidence of each graduate nurse's clinical experience as part of their professional portfolio development

Clinical Experience
There are three (3) rotations of four (4) months duration. The possible rotations are as follows:
General Surgical / Medical
Emergency
Operating Suite
Day Surgery
Acute Rehabilitation
Mental Health
Rotation to another Eastern Health site*
Graduates are supported by the Graduate Nurse Co-ordinator, education staff and preceptors during these rotations.
Applicants need to indicate the areas they are interested in on the Graduate Nurse Preference Form, and submit this form with their application.
*As part of the Eastern Health Graduate Program graduates can elect to have one rotation to another Eastern Health site. The sites include:
- Box Hill Hospital
- Maroondah Hospital
- Peter James Centre
- Wantirna Health
Supernumerary Time
- One week of orientation to ward and hospital (first rotation)
- First 2 days of 2nd and 3rd rotations
Clinical Support
During each rotation, clinical support is provided by dedicated educators and/ or preceptor nursing staff.
Night Duty
Graduates may be rostered on to night duty in some areas (maximum 10 weeks for the year).
Education and Theoretical Component of Graduate Nurse Program
Compulsory and non-compulsory professional development programs are held throughout the year and include:
- Forty hours (40) of study / education during their graduate year. The content of these are determined by the group.
- Attendance at Graduate Information Sessions
- Participation in a professional development activity e.g. in-service, research, quality activity
Honours Program
The Angliss Hospital is supportive of Graduate Nurses who are enrolled in an Honours Program. Honours students will be supported by a Research Nurse at the hospital.
Employment Opportunities Post Graduate Nurse Program
The Angliss Hospital endeavours to retain as many Graduate Nurses as possible.
