Alan Lilly

Chief Executive, Eastern Health
Alan Lilly joined Eastern Health in April 2009, having previously held executive and senior management positions at both Alfred Health and Southern Health. He has extensive experience in the management and development of acute, sub-acute, mental health, residential care, community health and ambulatory services. Alan is a surveyor with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

   

Sophy Athan

Sophy Athan first became involved in the health area 12 years ago as a carer and has become a consumer advocate. Previously, she worked in human services in both State Government and local government. Sophy Athan is involved with the Outer East Health and Community Support Alliance, the Mental Health Board of the Office of the Public Advocate, the Health Issues Centre Board and various Victorian Government committees. Also, she is Managing Director for Euroforce Music Pty Ltd.


Sue Downes

Sue Downes is a management consultant and works mostly with CEOs, senior executives and their teams on strategic relationship and process management, strategy development and implementation. She started works across most industry sectors including retail, manufacturing, engineering and construction, telecommunications and technology, marketing and advertising, consumer products, banking and finance. Previously she held senior management roles at Myer Grace Bros and Australia Post.

 

Ken Falconer

Ken Falconer is a retired accountant who is now employed full-time as a volunteer. He is Treasurer and a tour organiser with Probus, a member of Manningham Community Health Service’s Community Advisory Committee and a member of several Doncare Committees. He has received several awards including the Menzies Australia Day Award, the Chairman’s Award for Community Support and Manningham Citizen of the Year.


Ivan Kayne OAM

Ivan Kayne OAM is General Manager of B’nai B’rith Josies Charitable Trust, President of the Donvale Lions Club and Zone Chairman of Zone 5 Lions Clubs. Also, he is a Board member of the Victorian Quality Council (a Victorian Advisory Committee for the Victorian Minister for Health) and Deputy Chair of the Board of Health Issues Centre. Previously, Ivan was a member of the St Vincent’s Community Advisory Committee and has served on several committees advising the Federal Minister for Health.


Jeanette Kinahan

Jeanette Kinahan has extensive experience in health and disability management with service provision, management and regulation expertise – including work health, wellbeing and injury management, together with occupational & vocational rehabilitation. Jeanette is also a mediator and conflict management coach with expertise manageing and resolving complaints, conflicts and disputes in the workplace, and those in relation to health services and their providers. Jeanette also develops and audits quality management systems to improve work health and injury management.

Jeanette currently holds a Ministerial appointment in Victoria as a Member of the Health Services Review Council, and in NSW as a Conciliator with the Health Care Complaints Commission. Jeanette is also a Director of Northern Support Services, a not-for-profit disability service provider.

Jill Linklater

Jill has worked for 45 years in the health system, commencing her career in general nursing at the Alfred Hospital and midwifery at the Royal Women’s Hospital.  She complimented this training with a Bachelor of Science of Nursing in Canada and a Master of Health Administration in Australia.
Her nursing experience spans knowledge and skills as a nurse practitioner in northern Canada working with indigenous native tribes, managing a large operating suite complex in a 1000 bed acute hospital in Montreal, establishing a private hospital in the Middle East, and senior executive nursing leadership and management roles in several large health services in both regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne.  
Jill is currently a part time consultant accreditation surveyor with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and is completing a post-graduate diploma in Health and Medical Law. She is a member of the Board of Uniting Aged Care (Vic & Tas) and a member of the Board Quality and Safety Committee.
Jill was recognised for her extensive professional work with the award of the 2001 Centenary Medal by the Australian Government for services to medicine and the community.

 

Jane Oldham 

Over the past eight years Jane has held positions on a number of voluntary committees. She also held a Non-Executive Director role on the board of a hospital trust in England.  Prior to holding that position, she had been a volunteer community representative on three public health committees.  Jane’s ability to contribute in these forums drew on her professional experience as a lawyer and company secretary in the banking sector and her personal experience of the health systems in Australia and England.

  

Craig Ross

Craig has currently completed 4 years of the medical degree, including several clinical placements at Eastern Health. Craig is also a volunteer in the Maroondah Hospital Emergency Department and lives locally. As part of medical degree Craig is currently completing a research project at the Centre for Eye Research Australia The research project is focused on the role of hydraulic forces in wound healing after glaucoma filtration surgery 

 

Jan Wirth

Jan has had exposure to the healthcare system as both a consumer and carer .  She worked in the Victorian Healthcare System as a division one registered nurse for  a number of years and retired in 2004.  Her work during the 1990s included roles at Box Hill Hospital including Nurse Educator in General Nursing School and later Nursing Quality Improvement and Accreditation Co-ordinator (Major interest was falls prevention).  Later roles included designing, conducting, analysing and reporting on a survey (including focus groups) to all Victorian public hospitals and associated community providers on the outcomes of the Effective Discharge Programme, for the then Department of Humans Services and researching, designing and trialling a pressure injury prevention programme at the Austin Hospital.
