Clinical neuropsychology is a subspecialty of psychology specialising in the relationship between brain and behaviour. Neuropsychologists work with patients who have cognitive impairment, and can offer comprehensive, standardised assessment of cognitive function. Common reasons for referral include assessment of decision-making capacity, advice on management of patients with cognitive disorders, psychoeducation for patients and families, provision of strategies to assist therapy/return to work/driving/independent living, and differential diagnosis of dementia.

Neuropsychological services are provided at most major sites across Eastern Health.
