Food and Nutrition

A number of community programs related to food and nutrition are being run in Healesville and Yarra Junction.

Community Kitchens are groups of people who come together to socialise and enjoy good food. Everyone is involved in planning, budgeting, shopping, and cooking and the food is bought in bulk so that it is cheaper. In many kitchens extra serves are cooked so that people can take food home.

Yarra Valley Community Health is also involved with the Healesville Community Garden. At the Community Garden there are plots (large garden beds) available for anyone who wants to grow fruit and vegetables. There are also gardening and nutrition programs run by dietitians and occupational therapists.
