Do I have to stop taking my medications?
Our booking staff will advise you at the time of booking a procedure if you need to stop your medications, when and for how long.
Do I need a referral?
All imaging studies performed at Eastern Health require a referral from your doctor, specialist, dentist, orthodontist, oral maxillo-facial surgeon or other Medicare approved health practitioner. The referral form can be for any imaging provider.
I’m pregnant - how safe is an X-ray?
There are many different types of imaging techniques available to our radiologists. If you are pregnant and your doctor has requested an X-ray, please advise our staff and arrange to discuss with the radiologist whether it is appropriate for you to have an X-ray and if so, what type. Special X-ray shielding will be provided for your abdomen to safeguard your baby if the imaging requested does not include this area.
When do I need to attend for my X-ray?
You will be advised at the time of booking if you need to attend early for additional testing or preparation prior to your imaging. Otherwise, please plan to arrive at our reception about 10 minutes before your booked appointment. Plan to have your Medicare card ready for our registration processes.
Please note that because we offer a large range of imaging services, other patients will arrive at different times for their appointment and may be called before or after you have registered your arrival.
Will I have to fast before my X-ray or procedure?
Our booking staff will advise you at the time of booking an X-ray or procedure if you need to fast, withhold liquids or take any special preparations to prepare for your visit. They will supply you with preparations if necessary and instructions on how to use them.
