Family Violence
Family Violence occurs in all communities regardless of age, economic status, race, religion, nationality, sexuality or educational background.
Family Violence is often hard to identify because emotional and psychological abuse is difficult to detect as there are no physical signs, for example bruises or cuts.
All forms of abuse come from perpetrators wishing for power and control.
Eastern Health supports the rights for all persons to live free from violence and abuse, and recognises that women and children are overwhelmingly the victims of family violence.
We offer the following services for women
- Counselling
- Referral to specialist agencies
- Safety planning
- Advocacy
- Therapeutic support groups
