Medicare Billing Services (MBS) - Specialist Consulting Clinics at Eastern Health
Many outpatient clinics at Eastern Health are MBS clinics. (See each clinc description and information on billing).
On the doctor’s behalf, Eastern Health will bulk bill the cost of the consultation through Medicare. There is no out of pocket expense to the patient.
MBS-billed services require a current referral – please provide your patient with a 12 month referral to see the specialist of your choice at the requested clinic. Please note, from time to time, your patient may be seen by another specialist in that clinic, in order to expedite their treatment.
MBS-billing for some outpatient services is in line with the Department of Human Services recommendations, and will assist in addressing the costs associated with the growing demand for health services.
